MICRO MUNDI
MICRO MUNDI
'Small Worlds'
The marks have been made by snails grazing on algae with the rasping action of a spiky tongue. Year upon year they etch chaotic trails on abandoned surfaces, marking time and leaving us with rambling encryptions.
The patterns in nature seem to replicate on both micro and cosmic scales. Small etchings on the side of a derelict building can look like entire swathes of earth in a satellite picture.
The series has been titled in homage to the mediaeval map makers. Their quest was to identify new worlds as they gradually replaced what was mythical with the rational and proven.
