Elaine was invited to do the keynote speech at a conference entitled 'The Language of Illness and Pain' at Birkbeck College, London University. She spoke on aspects of 'the dreadful and the divine' which connected with her exhibition at The Royal College of Surgeons earlier in the year.

Elaine has three MICRO MUNDI images being exhibited in a 'Summer Salon' at Klompching, New York, until September 3rd. The exhibition also includes photographs by Antony Crossfield, Marc Baruth, Odette England, Cornelia Hediger, Doug Keyes, Sarah Lynch, Paula McCartney and Helen Sear.

Elaine's new work has been to The International Space Station

On November 16th Shuttle Atlantis departed for the ISS. On board was an image from Elaine's new series 'Micro Mundi', carried by Astronaut Leland Melvin. He had been so taken with the idea contained within the images (how the smallest of things connect with the largest) that he offered to photograph the image in space with the world below.

An image from Elaine's ‘Nylon’ series is up till April in The History of Photography Gallery at The V&A (The show is on for a year and “features work by some of the most influential figures to use photography as a creative art”).

Starting with a show in Boston's January snow (at the Griffin Museum of Photography), Elaine had shows running concurrently for the entire year! Thanks to her gallerists and supporters.

Elaine is now half way through her Artist Residency at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. She has unique access to the Historical Collection of Surgical Instruments and is working towards exhibiting in the Autumn.

Elaine's work is going to be on show round the corner from where she lives! Ben Pentreath Ltd is a beautiful space in the heart of Bloomsbury and will be showing ten of Elaine's 'Nets' and 'Nylons' between the 6th and 16th May. The Private View is on the 7th and all are welcome!

Elaine is going back to New York for KLOMPCHING's 10th gallery exhibiton. Since the gallery's inception it has made quite a Splash(!), the artists' shows being favorably reviewed in publications such as The New Yorker, Modern Painters, Art Review, New York Magazine, The British Journal of Photography, HotShoe and The Architect's Newspaper. "We are taking this opportunity to celebrate their successes, by re-presenting a selection of images from exhibitions displayed over the past eighteen months, as well as introducing a selection of images by gallery artists, that have not yet been shown. We hope you'll join us at the opening reception on Thursday, April 30th, 6pm–8pm."

The V&A are going to include two of Elaine's images in the upcoming re-hang of the Photography Gallery. They have chosen ‘Dior’ and ‘Highlife’ from the ‘Nylon’ series. The Photography Gallery hilights around 40 outstanding photographs drawn from the Collection. The new display features 19thC, classic, modern and contemporary works, with a focus on new acquisitions. The private view is on May 15th. ...more

Elaine was invited to donate an image entitled ‘Taille Unique’ from the ‘Nylon’ series to SNAP!09 Canada’s premier art auction. On Sunday March 1st, more than 600 people attended the fundraiser for ACT (Aids Committee of Toronto) which raises awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. $220,000 was raised!
